WATER WALK, an ode to the immigrant body
2023

Video Procession
Video duration: 36 minutes

Water Walk, an ode to the immigrant body depicts 9 residents of the Arizona borderlands walking in the dried-out Santa Cruz riverbed, conceptually intertwining an ecological decline to a political one. Each person carries differences in age, race, gender, dreams, personal mythologies, and immigration stories, who all make up the historic demographic inhabiting the Sonoran Desert. The presence of religious artifacts and the search for a miracle guides the path of the immigrants that border cross, and it is in that spirit that the procession gathers, in an ode to the immigrants who risk their lives crossing the US/Mexico border today.
